Color and Purrsonality

Some people believe that a Siamese's color will determine their purrsonality, or particular colors have certain personality traits. I'm not so sure, you can decide that for yourselves. But here is some of what they say.

All Siamese kittens are born pure white, and darken with age.

                         Seal point: Is what most people think of when they think of a Siamese. They  are said to be the most Regal, the snobs of the group.  They were the original Royal cat of Siam after all. They are stunning and they know it. They will love you as much as the others, but usually on their terms, when they want cuddles. They are said to be confident and possessive of their owners. Is it possessiveness or loyalty ??

"Look at me, aren't I just beautiful ?"

Deep seal brown almost black points, pale fawn or cream coat.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Blue point: Are the ones who will greet you at the door, and love to be carried from room to room, up on your shoulder. The blue points seem to be very affectionate.

Slate blue/gray points, and white body with blue tone

                        Chocolate point: Are supposed to be the clowns of the group. Always up for fun, and games.

                        Lilac point: Said to be the most gentle of the colors, personally,  I think this relates to their "gentle color"

                                     I think all Si's are beautiful, elegant, fun, loyal, smart individuals. Like us, they are all different. 

Teddy Bear stitches.

Siamese are said to be sewn together like teddy bears.They have  "stitches" behind the ears, across the chest and down under the belly and down their back legs.This is caused by fur running in two different directions.

VOICE

Siamese are known for their voice, not every one appreciates this particular trait, but like everything else, it varies from one cat to the other. With my own, I have one that "beeps" instead of a true meow, its such a quiet little noise she makes, its hard to believe its coming from such a big cat. Siamese voices range from the quiet type of meow through a rasping meow, like they have a  sore throat. And a screaming female  on heat is something to be heard..................not for the faint hearted. !!

A mother talking to her kittens is something else, a series of chirps and low growls. I've watched kittens run away from their mum (you can see them thinking "you cant catch me") only to come back when she gets really "serious", and then they get a good rough lick behind the ears, and put to bed.

The Siamese will talk to you too, some almost hold a full conversation, answering all your questions, or firing off a list of questions for you. Make sure you get the answers right because they will be persistent in their demands.

Some times their persistence is just with eye contact. Have you ever been "stared down" by a Siamese ? You will not win !!

 One of my own girls did this to me one day, and I was amazed by her persistence. Bella has a particular liking for dry cat food. On this day I had run out and hadn't been up to the shop to buy more. Bella came to her bowl only to find it empty, she sat on the bench and just stared at me, and stared at me, AND stared at me. I was busy doing other things and patted her, and talked to her each time I walked past, she still sat. When I sat down, she didn't move, just sat and stared at me, then at her bowl, then back at me. I realised what she was doing, and decided to wait and see how long she would keep this game up. Thinking she would get bored soon enough. After about an hour of her just staring at me every time I went by, I gave up, went up and got her food. When I came back she was still sitting there, I put the food in her bowl ,she came and rubbed against me, and then had something to eat, gave me a backward glance as she left the room as if to say "DO NOT PLAY WITH ME, YOU WILL NOT WIN" .

(by the way, Bella was not about to die of starvation, she is 6 and 1/2 kilos !!)
